Time For a Sea Change….. New Country, New Objectives, and New Challenges!

· 3 min read

Technology is ever-changing and in most cases improving how humans live, and for many of us in the tech space to have the opportunity to be amongst tech entrepreneurs, product engineering, venture capital and the tech giants like Google, Facebook, VMware, Apple, is a dream come true.

From my beginnings in Brazil to a 10-year post in Australia, and lately the bustling tech lifestyle of Silicon Valley, I've been extremely fortunate to experience it all.

When I arrived in Silicon Valley with my family, we planned to stay four years, but life took its course, and it has now been nine years of exceptional experiences, including working for some of the top enterprise data center companies like EMC, VMware, and Nutanix.

When building my professional career I often ended up managing teams, but I am a technologist at heart, and team management has always been a side outcome of my work. I was lucky to work with incredibly talented people.

I joined Datrium two years ago because I saw disruption once again, a new breed of convergence that I believe has the potential to displace legacy 3-tier architectures and first-generation HCI technologies. Of course, niche markets will always exist, and customer choice is fundamental.

It is the right time for a lifestyle change

My time to go back to Down Under has come, and I do that with happiness, but also with a heavy heart. My family is moving to Auckland, New Zealand, the country that my wife comes from and to which we want our daughter to grow up.

New Zealand is a peaceful country where police don’t carry guns, and hate and violence have no place. The recent terrorist attack in Christchurch deeply upset us, and we mourn the victims, but it is also good to see that it took a single incident to get people and politicians united for changing the laws.

In about a week, we're flying out, but don't fear because I am not going far. Thanks to Datrium I will still be deeply rooted to the USA and Silicon Valley.

I'll still be a member of the Datrium Solutions Team as the Field CTO for APJ and doing what I love; speaking with people about technology and helping organizations solve their tech-business problems; but also getting knee-deep into business-critical applications, benchmarks, papers, blogging, and evangelization;

I’m looking forward to help Datrium with the expansion into the APJ market, a bustling market constantly eager for innovation.

Many people have helped me along the way, and to all of you, I have a profound gratitude.

See you soon, from down under.
And if you ready for meeting Datrium technology ping me!
