VDI Calculator v7.4 Update

Hello,

This is a minor update to the VDI Calculator, just adding capability and support for Intel Xeon processors with 20 cores. I'm adding that mostly because Datrium now has a Compute Node (CN) that supports Intel Xeon Gold 6148, 20 cores/socket, 2.4GHz (specs). That said this new option provides support for any hardware from any vendor supporting 20 core processors.

It is not often that an opportunity to join a cutting edge technology company appears to us in a lifetime and I have done it twice now - I consider myself very lucky.

Firstly, the team at Datrium formed part of the founding teams for Data Domain and VMware. Data Domain revolutionized the enterprise storage industry by introducing deduplication technology, and VMware does not need introductions. Diane Greene and Mendel Rosenblum, VMware founders, are early funders at Datrium, and some of the top Valley VCs like Lightspeed and NEA (Nutanix, Riverbed, Nest, Uber, Workday, etc…) are also investors.

Today I am releasing a new version of the Nutanix workflow, including fixes and improvements to the configuration process, and support for Nutanix REST API v2.0. Today Nutanix announced the first part of a multi-month announcement for NOS 4.1. This release is mostly focused on enhancements for the areas of resiliency, security, disaster recovery, analytics, supportability and management. However, even being a ‘dot’ release, NOS 4.1 delivers very important features, and in my option this version has enough meat to actually even be considered a major release.

During VMworld Barcelona 2013 VMware announced the bundling of vCenter Operations Manager with the Horizon View Suite, at no additional cost. In my opinion this awesome given that vCOps has helped me to troubleshoot View deployments numerous times.

vCOPS offers performance and operations management for deployments of any size, production monitoring, advanced problem warning, faster time to resolution and complete infrastructure coverage. The new vCOPS 5.8, also announced during VMworld, uses intelligent operations with policy-based automation, where the automation engine is self-learning and regulates and drives remediation actions continuously.
