When I decided to join Nutanix 6 months ago I knew exactly what the company ‘grand’ vision was and I also knew that Nutanix had a fantastic engineering team that came from Google, Facebook, Amazon etc. For this reason an award like the one recently announced by Gartner doesn’t surprise me at all. I’ve known Nutanix is the most visionary converged infrastructure player for a long time.
I am just glad that the hard work from this team is now being acknowledged by the industry analyst circuit and that Nutanix technology and vision are bringing game changing technology and economics to mainstream enterprise data centers.
Gartner has positioned Nutanix furthest to the right for completeness of vision in the Inaugural Magic Quadrant for Integrated Systems, however the best part of all is that I know that the ‘grand’ vision is not even close to get fully executed. Shhhhh!
While Gartner has a slightly more detailed definition, an Integrated System is effectively a converged storage + compute solution. Gartner considers Nutanix to be an Integrated Systems vendor based upon this definition, as well as their broader product taxonomy.
Nutanix is taking on giants like VCE, Cisco-Netapp, Oracle, HP and IBM. However, to break into the upper right-hand “Leaders” quadrant, Gartner typically expects to see revenue and employee headcount consistent with large publicly traded companies – putting even high-growth ‘start-ups’ at a distinct disadvantage. Nutanix’s impressive growth, however, demonstrate a solid trajectory to become a leader in the next few quarters.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere THANK YOU to customers and partners for believing in Nutanix.
