It’s been a whole month since my last post here and I am starting to feel that I might be turning into a slacker in regards to my blogging. Well… to be honest, life has been both hectic and exciting here at Nutanix. For this reason I decided to write a little about some of the news around Nutanix – more like a quick summary.
On the product front, Nutanix released AOS 4.7 with numerous new features and the upcoming Asterix release is getting ready to go out of the door very soon – this will be a huge release, believe me! At the same time on the OEM-land Lenovo has been consistently increasing the number of supported hardware platforms and expanding customer footprint. On a similar note Nutanix announced support for Cisco UCS; and the brand new DellEMC company reiterated their commitment to Nutanix and their DellXC customers. The DellEMC head for converged technologies, and long-time friend Chad Sakacc visited Nutanix HQ for the first time last week.
Our engineering department recently held Nutanix 4th hackathon here in San Jose, CA. A hackathon (also known as a hack day, hackfest or codefest) is an event in which programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers and project managers, collaborate intensively on innovative software projects outside their day-to-day activities.
During 4 days more than 600 engineers worked on amazing innovation and prototypes that may eventually be included into products.
I had the opportunity to see some of these projects first hand; and I will tell you that I am bullish on Nutanix’ ability to keep innovating for both public and private clouds for a long time to come. I can’t comment on projects of course, but some really break-trough innovation were produced by our engineers.
Jason Langone keeps coming up with new logos for his shirt producing company!
In parallel, Nutanix is taking our Las Vegas .NEXT conference to Europe .NEXT Europe in November 8-10, and .NEXT on Tour in September and October reaching out to many cities across continents and countries – so make sure you register to one of the events here – every city is announcing a new Nutanix feature!
I am attending couple events across U.S., but in Sao Paulo I will be presenting the executive keynote – yes…. in Portuguese!. If you are based out of Sao Paulo I look forward to meet you at the event at the Grad Hyatt.
