and the VMware Ingenuity Award goes to…. me!

Every year during the APAC VMware Virtual Forum held in Sydney VMware recognize their partners’ efforts in the virtualization industry. This year for the first time VMware also awarded customers that achieved excellence whilst using VMware products.

The VMware Virtual Desktop Ingenuity Award went to TeleTech. This is an award for clever and original use of VMware solutions.

I’m happy to say that I was the responsible professional, whilst TeleTech Server Operations Manager for ANZ, who proposed, designed and deployed the whole solution.

Unfortunately (or fortunately LOL) I left TeleTech two weeks ago therefore was not able to go up on stage and be complimented by Steve Herrod. At least my ex-boss, who received the prize, let me take a photo holding the statuette.

The solution in short line due to NDA constraints – VMware View 3.x platform based in an Australian datacenter supports hundreds of Telstra agents based in Philippines over a large MPLS network. The solution integrates VPN, VoIP, Application Virtualization, directional audio etc…

The design was created by me to use follow the sun approach and the idea is that in the future those virtual desktops can be used in Europe and Americas during their day time. The design is highly scalable, up to 1,000 agents and 10,000 agents. TeleTech expects to reach 10,000 users by the end of 2011.

Have Fun
