Recipe of How To fix most VMware View Agent issues

In exceptional circumstances it’s possible that VMware View Agent will not work properly in your desktop template. If this occurs some features such as ThinPrint and USB redirection might not be properly activated. These issues might happen after a View Agent upgrade or after a unsuccessful uninstallation of View Agent, specially if you are trialling Beta versions of the product.

I arrived at Step 11 (Install VMWare Tools) and received this error:

The virtual machine does not have a CD-ROM drive configured. A virtual machine must have a CD-ROM drive configured for this option to work.

It turns out that one of the preceding steps deleted the CD-ROM drive from the image. After a shutdown, I was able add a CD-ROM drive back to the parent image through edit settings. Once the VM was back up, I was able to successfully run the Install VMWare tools wizard.
